A TEENAGER who kicked the door of a pub after being ejected has been ordered to carry out unpaid work by the court.
Leigh Sherwood, of Brodrick Road, had been at The Pubb in Hampden Park on the night of April 26 and was told to leave following an argument.

Eastbourne magistrates heard how the 18-year-old had tried to get back in but the door was closed from the
inside, so he began kicking and banging against it.

Police attended the scene and arrested Sherwood. A search showed he had a small quantity of herbal cannabis on him consistent with personal use.

Sherwood, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the cannabis offence, appeared at Eastbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty for the offence of criminal damage.

He also admitted being in breach of a conditional discharge.

David Alexander, defending, told magistrates that the delay in the CCTV was the reason for Sherwood not changing his criminal damage plea until now, "He had been to the Pubb and alcohol was consumed.

"He doesn't know how it happened but there was an argument and he was ejected. He went back in, punches were thrown and he was assaulted.
"He was ejected again and the door was shut and he kicked it in a fit of temper."

Magistrates sentenced Sherwood to a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work to be completed.

For breaching the conditional discharge he was re-sentenced and fined £100. Magistrates also ordered he pay £60 court costs and for the drugs to be destroyed.
