HEALTH centres in Lancing and Sompting are facing a major shake-up.
The five existing GP surgeries could be replaced with two larger healthy living centres.

Dr David Hobson of the Ball Tree Surgery in Western Road North, Sompting, said: "We are working together on proposals to replace the five existing GP premises
with two larger healthy living centres, each built to modern standards with proper disability access.

"We are holding public meetings to discuss plans with patients and seek their views.

"There will also be a short presentation at the end of the meetings by Electric Storm, the charity that provides recreation facilities for young people, about proposed new facilities."

Dr Hobson said all five surgeries in Lancing and Sompting were in talks about how best to improve health care for residents and meet the national policy of bringing care closer to home.

"This would mean a wider range of services such as a pharmacy, 'one stop shop' care for people with long term conditions such as diabetes, and an extended range of minor surgery being available in local centres for health.

"These will be larger, purpose-built premises so that more health services can be provided on your doorstep."

The first meeting will be at the Sompting United Reformed Church in Cokeham Road, Sompting on Wednesday, September 17 at 7.30pm and the second will be at Lancing Parish Hall, South Street, on Thursday, September 25 at 7.30pm.
