The 61-year-old pedestrian who died in a road traffic collision at Hassocks last night (December 2) has been named as Brian Pickett from Hurst Road, Hassocks.

Staff from all three emergency services attended the collision on the B2116 Hurst Road very close to Mr Pickett's home and near Stone Pound Crossroads.

Mr Pickett was in collision with a hatchback car and died from his injuries at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Inspector Andrew Judson, Haywards Heath Road Policing Unit, on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Paxton.

Police understand that the road closure, to complete a thorough investigation, was during a busy commuter time and caused considerable disruption. Members of the public are thanked for their patience.
