Wingmen at Brighton Concorde 2: Old rockers rock hard

Baz Warne (The Stranglers), Paul Gray (The Damned), Leigh Heggarty (Ruts DC) and Marty Love (Johnny Moped) are WINGMEN - a supergroup of epic punk proportions that manages to recapture the spirit of the late-70s and spin it into a new direction for fans who, like the band members, are still rocking almost five decades later.

With support from The Duel and WitchDoktors, Wingmen completed their inagural tour of the UK at Brighton's legendary Concord 2 venue this weekend just gone, and despite the fact that their collective age is upwards of two centuries, they showed bands less than half their age how to maintain the energy and passion needed to sustain a life on the road.

This is music for a modern audience played by musicians who have lived through so many genres they have probably lost count - but what is important is how they have stuck to their guns and continue to deliver fresh takes on that gritty punk ethic that originally propelled them to fame.

Wingmen are just what the music industry needs - legitimate characters who refuse to sell out and simple deliver the goods on demand.
