I WAS pleased to see Martin King's letter criticising the actions which are apparently leading to the amalgamation of Worthing and Adur councils.
As a long-time resident of Worthing, I do not recall this being raised as a policy at any election although we seem to be edging towards it by stealth.

I should like to see a full exposure of the policy.

Is amalgamation the eventual aim and if
not, what is the full extent of the shared services envisaged? What are the costs and proposed benefits?

Furthermore is this being driven by our elected representatives (in which case why was it not raised as a major issue in recent elections?) or is it being imposed by the unelected employed officers and managers?

As a council tax paying resident I feel that I have the right to this information.

The press could afford a service by seeking to expose the full picture.
