EACH week in your marvellous newspaper I read with amusement letters about the disastrous decision by the council to trust NCP with control of parking in Worthing, and the resulting annoyance caused to residents, etc.
So, I thought you may be interested in my daughter's experience with these people.
She works for a well-known children's hospice and has affixed to her windscreen, just above the tax disc, a large permit allowing her to park in all areas in Worthi
ng.
In June, she parked in Chatsworth Road and was ticketed for not displaying a valid pay and display ticket, even though she had a large permit on display.
She wrote to NCP, who demanded proof she had a permit! This in itself is strange as the permit is issued by the parking office and has her car registration number on it.
Not trusting these people, we sent recorded delivery copies of the permit and photographs of it in the windscreen.
After a week or so they wrote back cancelling the fine, but warned her that as they let her off once they may not do next time (assuming she was guilty).
This raises questions as to whether their staff are just plain incompetent, or is this being done to be able to fine more people due to having one PCN cancelled.
I have since discovered two more people who have been accused of not displaying permits when they had done so, very strange.
We have written to the parking office asking for an explanation and payment for time wasted, photocopying, postage etc.
So come on, Worthing council, let's get rid of this lot and get back to some more sensible enforcement, please.
